What Can You Do if You Don’t Have a Drill?
Drills are used to make holes in hard surfaces for bolts. It also serves to reduce the strain of screwing bolts with a hand screwdriver. It is useful when you have to fix many bolts.
This means that you can replace the second function with a simple screwdriver. It can be tedious, but it is possible. However, for drilling a hole you will need something more.
Method 1: For drilling holes in plastic
- Bring a small piece of copper to a boil.
- Place the material over the area you want to drill a hole.
- Let the plastic melt until it is the shape of an opening.
You need to get the perfect size copper piece. However, it is easy to find it at your local hardware store.
Method #2: Make your bow drill
- You will need two sticks of wood. Tie a string piece on each end of the one stick to make a bow. The other stick should have a handle and a sharp end.
- Make a small incision in the wood, where your hole will be.
- Use pressure to place the pointy end on your second stick.
- Wrap the string (bow), around the drill bit.
- By pushing down on the handhold, drill into the wood. Then move the bow.
Method #3: Brace your hands and bite
You may have a brace (or a similar tool) that can be used to drill larger holes. Simply press the brace's top and rotate the U-shaped bit.
Method #4: Self-drilling screws
Self-drilling screws can save you a lot. Use a standard screwdriver in your local hardware store.
